Emanuel Reynoso

Reynoso joined Minnesota United in September of 2020 as a Designated Player from legendary club Boca Juniors after spending his entire career playing in Argentina.

“El Rey” is the definition of a “game-changer.” The 2022 MLS All-Star has been invaluable to Minnesota, providing unique creativity in the offense. Since Reynoso joined the club in 2020, the Loons are 31-6-11 across all competitions in games in which he contributes a goal or an assist. He is the club leader in assists, setting his teammates up 45 times across all competitions.

Reynoso missed five months of the 2023 season due to personal issues, during which he was unable to leave Argentina. Upon his arrival in Minnesota, he returned to his regular form as a playmaker, scoring six goals and tallying five assists through eighteen matches. The Argentine made history during the summer months of 2023. In a match against the 2022 MLS Cup Champions, LAFC, ‘Rey’ scored Minnesota’s 300th regular-season goal in the 24th minute to earn a 1-1 draw against the Black & Gold. On August 30, 2023, he tied Darwin Quintero for the most goals scored (27) across all competitions since joining the MLS in 2017. His two goals that evening also tied him with Robin Lod for most goals scored in the regular season (22). Lastly, he secured the record for the most multi-goal regular season games in club history with six. On ‘Decision Day’ against Sporting Kansas City on October 21, 2023, he made his 100th MNUFC appearance across all competitions.

In 2022, Reynoso added goalscoring to his repertoire, leading the team in goals scored with 10 this season. During the summer stretch when the Loons went on a 13-game scoring streak from June 19 through August 27—going 8-3-2—the number 10 tallied eight goals and provided six assists. He had two separate point streaks in which he scored a goal or provided an assist in that time frame: three games from June 29–July 8 and five games from July 16–August 27. He led the team in MLS Team of the Week appearances with seven, and in Week 21, Reynoso was named Player of the Week for the first time after his performance against D.C. United on July 16, where he scored his second brace of the season.

Having only played 13 regular-season games in 2020, Reynoso provided seven assists and one goal while only playing in one loss. The Argentine made MLS history in the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs, providing three assists in back-to-back playoff games for the first time in MLS Cup history. Reynoso played a role in all eight goals the Loons scored in the postseason, assisting in seven and scoring one off a free kick against Seattle in the Western Conference Final. Reynoso continued his success from his debut season in 2021, finishing the season leading the team in assists with ten and scoring five goals.

The 27-year-old began his professional career with his hometown team, Club Atlético Talleres, in Cordoba, where he made 52 appearances from 2014–2017. He joined Boca ahead of the 2017–18 season, where he contributed seven goals and 12 assists across all competitions, including three goals in the Libertadores and two with eight assists in Superliga play. Across his career, Reynoso has made key appearances in major competitions such as the Copa Libertadores, Copa Argentina, and the Copa Superliga.
